The Foreigner Who Keeps Coming Back

Travel has always been my escape from the rat race — and honestly, I enjoy the planning almost as much as being there. Researching destinations, mapping routes, finding that perfect guesthouse. I first visited Laos in 2009 as a side trip from Thailand — just three days in Luang Prabang. I almost didn't go.

But something about the pace of this country, the kindness of the people, the way the Mekong glows at sunset while monks walk in single file — it changed my entire approach to travel.

I came back the next year and did the full route: Vientiane to Vang Vieng, the slow boat to Luang Prabang, south to the Bolaven Plateau and the 4000 Islands. Since then I've explored Nong Khiaw, Phonsavan's Plain of Jars, and the Thakhek Loop. Each trip reveals another layer — Laos doesn't give everything up at once.

I'm not a travel blogger. I have a regular tech day job. But Laos keeps pulling me back, and I finally decided to put everything I've learned into something useful — a site with real prices in LAK, honest recommendations, video content from places I've actually been, and an AI trip planner that builds itineraries from actual experience.

It's the resource I wish I'd had when I first arrived.
